If you have a question, comment or concern for the Cypress Ridge Board’s consideration, you are encouraged to present your subject during the Open Forum session at the next regularly scheduled board meeting. Subjects for the board that may require a lengthy discussion and dialog can be given in advance to the board by sending the board your question, comment or concern. In this way, the board can better prepare an answer for you at the meeting. If you have a general question, please contact the board.
Ted James – President
Master’s Degree, City and Regional Planning, CSU, Fresno Fresno and Kern County Planning Positions Kern County Planning Director/ Development Services Agency Director Land Use/Environmental Consultant Chairman, Cypress Ridge Community Enhancement Committee.
Many years of experience involved with private property regulatory affairs, consensus building, managing an agency budget and communicating with the public in a transparent and objective manner is well-suited for the role of being a Board Director.
I am honored to serve with the Board and HOAMCO in planning for the future and protecting and enhancing the value of our home and community investments.
Mike Palmer – Vice President/Treasurer
Mike and his wife Christy have lived in the San Luis Obispo area since 2016 and have been in Cypress Ridge since 2024. Mike is a retired CPA and has served in a Chief Operating Officer role for several 200+ member law firms in California and Texas. He also served on the Board of a 10,000-member international trade association for six years, including one year as its President.
Before Cypress Ridge, Mike served on the Board of San Luis Country Club Estates HOA and became its Treasurer in 2016. In 2018, he was elected President and served as both President and Treasurer until relocating to Cypress Ridge. Mike also served on the Finance Committee for the San Luis Obispo Country Club for six years.
Mike’s HOA accomplishments include simplifying financial reporting, banking relationships, and investment management as well as conducting Request for Proposals (RFPs) for security, landscape contractors, drilling contracts, and completely relandscaping the street facing common area and the main entry gate area. He also prepared the annual budgets and reported on budget performance at regular Board meetings.
Mike supports holding Board meetings in an open and inclusive manner and his highest priorities are maintaining a beautiful, safe, secure, and friendly community with a financially strong HOA.
Bob Hatmaker – Secretary
Cypress ridge is a great development and I would like to help keep it that way. My neighbors have been nothing but great and the neighborhood is safe. I love people and you might know me because I walk and ride my bike daily in Cypress Ridge.
I’m a retired junior high teacher that mainly taught in Clovis Unified near Fresno for most of my career. I still teach part-time to keep active. I would like the opportunity to represent the residents of Cypress Ridge on the board! I will do my best to keep our neighborhood a great place to live!
Danny Deveraux – Member-at-Large
Danny and his wife, Sally, have lived in Cypress Ridge since 2006. They will celebrate 50 years of marriage in February and have two children and 6 grandchildren, all residing in San Luis Obispo County.
Danny has a BS degree in Mining Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. He has been retired for 3 years and last worked for CalPortland Construction as their Central Coast Region Vice President and General Manager. Previous work history includes Chief Operating Officer for Union Asphalt Incorporated, Regional Plants Manager for Granite Construction Company and an engineer for Amoco Production Company.
Danny’s prior board experience includes the Santa Maria Chamber of Commerce, Santa Maria Valley Economic Development Commission, California Industrial and Construction Materials Association and the Construction Materials Association of California.
Danny’s interests include golf, photography, travel and family. He believes Cypress Ridge is a gem and will work diligently to preserve and enhance the community experience.
Ed Turner – Member-at-Large
My wife Donna and I retired to Cypress Ridge in 2019 from Alaska after I spent 39 years as an oil industry engineer with Unocal and BP. We retired to the Central Coast to be close to family and friends realizing Alaska winters, although wonderful, were not our idealized retirement conditions. Our three adult children are scattered across the US in Boston, Denver, and Utah. Once we all got past COVID and its restrictions, Donna and I immediately jumped into Cypress Ridge life. I have been the Cypress Ridge Golf and Social Club president since 2023. Donna has run the Cypress Ridge summer concert series since 2022. I’m looking forward to being on the board and helping the Cypress Ridge community in new ways.
